Accident Injury Solicitors: How They Can Help

Having an accident is a shocking – as well as painful – experience. When you’re not expecting it, a personal injury can be hugely upsetting and genuinely traumatic.

But help is available. As well as medical treatment to aid your recovery, you could also benefit from the help provided by our expert accident injury solicitors.

What do accident injury solicitors do?

When you’ve had an accident that wasn’t your fault, you are legally entitled to make a claim for compensation. The law exists to help accident victims like you get justice, as well as the compensation that could help to get you back in the position you were in before your accident ever happened.

As part of the claims process, your accident solicitor will:

  • Evaluate your situation

After an accident, you’ll have an initial discussion with your solicitor about what happened to you. They’ll use this conversation to work out who was responsible for your injury and whether there is a realistic chance of holding them accountable.

You’ll be able to ask questions about the process before agreeing to go ahead. It could be helpful to think about what you want to know and put together a list of questions before speaking to your solicitor.

  • Investigate your case

If you do have a claim, your solicitor will then begin investigating. They’ll access your medical records and contact any witnesses you’ve named. They’ll also contact the individual or organisation responsible for your accident to request more information.

You can help by having any evidence you’ve been able to gather ready for your lawyer. In most cases, your solicitor will also arrange for you to have a medical assessment, the results of which will contribute to their evidence.

  • Present your claim

When they’ve put it together, your solicitor will then present your injury claim to the party you’re claiming against. This will usually be the insurer of the person or organisation responsible for your accident. The other party will then accept or deny liability.

If they deny liability, your solicitor will consult with you and you will then decide together about what to do.

  • Negotiate on your behalf

If the other party accepts liability, your lawyer will then begin negotiating to get you the appropriate level of compensation for what happened to you. They will present the evidence that shows how their negligence caused your injury.

It’s important to remember that you won’t be able to go back and get more once you’ve accepted a compensation offer. Settling for less than you deserve would be a mistake.

  • Get you treatment

If your accident caused an injury that requires ongoing or extensive treatment – including physiotherapy or dental care – your solicitor may be able to help you get it. This will get you on the road to recovery, helping you feel better as soon as possible.

Mr Dunbar is just one of our clients who was offered physiotherapy – as well as compensation – through making a claim.

What accidents can an injury solicitor help me after?

If you’ve suffered an injury after any kind of accident that wasn’t your fault, a lawyer could help you get the compensation you’re entitled to.

Some of the most common accidents our solicitors can help with include:

Your employer is required to ensure your safety. If they fail in their duty of care to you and you are injured, you could make a claim against them.

You could make a compensation claim if you’ve suffered scarring or injuries after a cosmetic surgery procedure went wrong.

Suffering from preventable pain or illness after substandard dentistry could mean you can make a No Win No Fee claim.

If your doctor has made a mistake in your diagnosis or treatment, we could help you make a claim to aid your recovery.

If you’re hurt in a road accident caused by another driver, our solicitors could help you claim the compensation you’re legally entitled to.

Whether you slipped in a supermarket or tripped on an uneven pavement, you could be able to claim compensation for your injury.

Only pay a fee if you receive compensation

Our No Win No Fee solicitors will take a success fee from the compensation you are awarded for a successful claim in the form of a percentage of your damages. This could be up to 25% but it won't be more than that, except in cases of road traffic accidents. Changing laws mean our solicitors will now take a payment of 35% of the final compensation amount plus VAT for all road traffic accident claims.

First4Lawyers are an award-winning claims management company with a track record of delivering service that our clients love.
