Have you diced with death by taking risks whilst behind the wheel?

Are you guilty of having a sneaky peak at your phone whilst driving, or exceeding the speed limit every now and again?

We commissioned research into driver attitudes and habits in the UK and found a worrying number appear to have a lackadaisical approach to road safety. Of the 2,000 drivers surveyed, over half (55 per cent) admitted to exceeding the speed limit, more than a fifth (21 per cent) admitted to driving while over the alcohol limit and a fifth (20 per cent) have sent text messages whilst behind the wheel.

To find out whether you’re a safe driver, take our interactive driver aptitude test below.

Our article sets out more results of the survey.

And you can see more of the top risks taken by drivers in our full press release.

Alarmingly, the survey showed that 91 per cent of drivers don’t know for sure what the alcohol limit is, with drivers aged 17-24 being most likely to exceed the alcohol limit before taking to the road. Drivers aged 25-34 came top (31 per cent) for the number of motorists who’ve taken drugs before getting behind the wheel, with cannabis being the most common at 47 per cent.

But that's not the only issue drivers seem to not be aware of. Check out our run down of the top 10 things people might forget are illegal when driving.

We interviewed three young drivers, who shared their views on driving with us:
